Ions and Organic Solutes as Implicated in the Ameliorative Effect of Exogenous Application of Calcium on Salt Stressed Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) Plants

Aims: This study evaluated the role of sodium, potassium, proline and soluble sugars accumulation in ameliorative effect an exogenous application calcium on detrimental salinity tomato plants.
 Study Design: The experiment was implemented as a Completely Randomized Design (RCD) with four treatments three replications.
 Place Duration Study: realized green house Faculty Agronomical Sciences, University Abomey-Calavi, Benin Republic from June to July 2020. Methodology: Three weeks old plants cultivar “Padma” submitted pots comprising control (without NaCl); salt stress (120 mM NaCl) combination 120 NaCl 40 CaSO4 or Ca (NO3)2 by irrigation every two days. Plants growth, sodium (Na) potassium (K) well contents leaves roots were determined after weeks.
 Results: Salt reduced significantly plant growth at P =.05, root K content =.05 leaf K/Na ratio =.01 whereas it increased Na =.05. (Ca) induced significant amelioration more marked than (NO3)2. treatment decrease increase only for CaSO4, Ca(NO3)2.
 Conclusion: both forms due mainly exclusion associated maintain high leaves. importance indicator this Ca(NO3)2.
